Valley cushion mugo pine is an attractive, low-growing dwarf mugo pine. Rather than growing into a mound, Valley Cushion slowly spreads almost like a mat, growing much wider than it is tall.
It's deep green color and uniform appearance are lovely. This can be a great alternative to spreading junipers for small gardens.
Valley Cushion mugo pine has been a great performer in the dwarf conifer rock garden at the Xeriscape Garden. It has a nice green color and uniform appearance. It has not spread into a mat yet, but is very attractive. It is definitely worth considering wherever a short, uniform evergreen is desired.
No maintenance required. Unlike other mugo pines, Valley Cushion mugo pine does not require candle pruning to keep it small.
