St. Mary's spruce is one of the smallest dwarf evergreens available. Growing only 1-2 inches per year, it is a small, bun-shaped shrub. The needles are bright blue. It is a great choice where a very small evergreen is desired.
St. Mary's spruce has grown well at the Xeriscape Demonstration Garden. It grows slowly and has a bright blue color.
No maintenance required under normal conditions. Needs regular soil moisture to become established. New growth and young plants can be susceptible to deer browsing.
