Mesa Verde spruce is a low-growing, spreading evergreen shrub. Its needles have a green color. It grows outward from the central stem in a uniform manner, making it a tidy-looking plant

For a smaller space, it can be good alternative to spreading junipers. It has good drought tolerance once established.

There are three Mesa Verde spruces growing at the Xeriscape Demonstration Garden. They have been trouble-free, attractive plants. It is a good choice where a spreading, but slow-growing evergreen is desired.

No maintenance required under normal conditions. New growth and young plants can be susceptible to deer browsing.
