Hardy plumbago is a fantastic short perennial flower that can be used as a groundcover. For most of the summer, it grows as a glossy green mound of attractive leaves. In late summer, the plant is covered with striking blue flowers. As the weather turns cool in the fall, the leaves turn a spectacular bronze-red.
Hardy plumbago will spread slowly through underground stems, and can make a low maintenance groundcover if planted closely together.
Hardy plubmbago has been an excellent performer at the Xeriscape Garden. It has tolerated drought and erratic weather, plus required very little maintenance. The fall display is quite beautiful.
Cut stems to ground level in fall or late winter before new growth begins in spring.
