Compact maiden grass is one of the shortest maiden grasses available for sale. It grows as a graceful, uniform, rounded mound of arching green leaves. When the summer is warm enough for it to flower, it produces pink silky plumes that turn white as they mature.
Compact maiden grass has peformed beautifully in the moderate water zone of the Xeriscape Demonstration Garden. Its compact habit makes it appear as a round mound of graceful, arching leaves. When the summer is cool throughout the growing season, it may not flower.
In early spring, cut the old growth to ground level.
