Blue fortune hyssop is a reliable perennial flower with pretty blue flower spikes.
It has sturdy stems with mint-like leaves. Powder blue flowers grow in mid summer and bloom for over a month. The leaves turn a beautiful yellow in fall.
It looks great in combination with other perennial flowers, shrubs, and ornamental grasses. It also makes an attractive backdrop for shorter plants.
Blue fortune hyssop has performed well in a variety of settings at the Xeriscape Garden.
In moderate water areas, it is vigorous and grows quite tall. In drier areas, it is much shorter. Blue fortune hyssop cannot tolerate extremely dry conditions.
Cut dead stems to ground level in late winter or early spring.
