Austrian copper rose is an upright arching rose bush with striking orange and yellow flowers. The flowers are yellow on the back and orange-red on the top, blooming once in June.

It grows as a tall, upright plant with thorny branches as small leaves. The leaves turn yellow in the fall. It is able to grow in harsh conditions.

Many Austrian copper roses have been grown at the Xeriscape Demonstration Garden over the years. The flowers are stunning.

When not in flower, this rose is not very eye-catching. Plant it around other plants that have better shape and year-long interest.

Prune any winter-killed branches in the spring. May need pruning for shape, too.
